Introduced in the 80's by Karl Lagerfeld, the Chanel Classic Flap Bag is known for its Double-C Turnlock closure, Chanel classic quilting, and leather-laced chain shoulder strap. A spin off of the 2.55 flap bag, the original Classic Flap shoulder bag originally had a double flap design with an exterior flap closure and an interior flap compartment. A Single Flap version with no interior flap closure, was then launched and available for some years before being discontinued in 2014. Over the years, Chanel's Classic Flap has been produced in different sizes and materials, but the two most popular options are caviar and lambskin. Caviar is recognized by its pebbled texture and lambskin is known for its buttery soft finish. Coco Chanel founded her namesake brand in 1910 when she opened a hat shop called "Chanel Modes". Coco expanded her high-fashion product offerings and added sportswear, jewelry, handbags, tweed suits, and her first Haute Couture house. In 1982, Karl Lagerfeld was brought in as Creative Director to revive the brand. He reintroduced the Cruise collection, restored Haute Couture, successfully launched Chanel's Ready-to-Wear collection, and introduced the now so famous Classic Flap Bag with its instantly recognizable CC logo.
